THE HISTORY OF A SURREY VILLAGE

Blackheath 1914-1918
A Surrey Village at War
by Jayne Barlow

To mark the conclusion of the 4 year WW1 project the Blackheath Village Archive self-published a small paperback book.
Written by Blackheath resident Jayne Barlow, the book not only tells the stories of the 70 men who left Blackheath to serve their country but of their families and of life in this area of Surrey during the turbulent years of 1914-18.
The Chilworth Gunpowder Mills, the local suffragists, village schools and Guildford all feature in various chapters filled with many images.
A very small limited number of books were produced and are only available directly through us. If you are interested in obtaining a copy please do contact us via our contact page on this website.
November 2018. Book launch at the
